Sartana for the character meme! (she's my favorite character in the show)

First impression: i actually didnt like some of her episodes at first but i love love LOVED her design !!!

Impression now: still like her design, its literally so peak. but shes really grown on me as a character, she has a surprising amount of funny moments!! plus a bunch of her scenes in the episodes are so badass its so cool to see

Idea for a story: hmm im not really sure i have one?? there IS her counterpart in the frameshift au.. buuut its not as fleshed out as the other aspects of frameshift, so ill bite my tongue for now 💔

Unpopular opinion: again not really an unpopular opinion but im SOOOO sad we didnt get at least a season 2, i wouldve loved to see more of her and her development, django too as well aghgjfjhehkhgh

As a black person, I love the fact that, when a white person is in a interracial relationship, they learn how to help do their partners hair.

So I think Danny, being friends with Tucker and being friends/exes with Valerie, learned how to do textured hair and uses this skills to help Manny tame his riot of coiled curls in the morning. And Manny loves it - he’s getting special treatment from Danny and his hair is tamed? Freaking jackpot.

And when Danny starts to grease his scalp-pure heaven. Like yeah having him section and comb out his hair to apply the shea butter is a bitch, but he’s really about when Danny messages his scalp after applying the grease to evenly distribute it all over. He’s got some magic fingers and El Tigre, really becomes Gatito and he kneads his thighs in contentment; eyes closed and blissed out.

He hoards his boyfriends hair abilities to himself and is devastated when Frieda and Django find out.

Just One Dance

Stepsister!Wanda Maximoff x Male Reader

It’s not that you didn’t like your future stepdad or his daughter, it just seemed like an odd request for the wedding.

“One dance with her is all I ask” Django said gently, “one dance to signify our new family”

“Okay” you said a little uneasy. A dance with your stepsister at the wedding reception, it wasn’t that it was a bad idea. It’s just that you found your heart beating out of your chest every time she was close by. Every time she smiled and laugh, your heart was practically ready to burst out of your chest.

You loved hanging out with her. She was a good friend and you shared the same love of old TV shows. You could totally see sharing a roof with her.

Django treated you well. He already saw you as his own. He decided to make you his best man for the ceremony. Your mom made Wanda her maid of honor.

You found yourself wobbly approaching Wanda that afternoon.

“Papa tell you that we had to dance together?” Wanda asks

“Yeah. How’d you know?”

“Your mom told me the same thing.”

“I’m guessing it’d be a bad idea to do the Adam West Batusi dance”

Wanda couldn’t help but laugh at your joke. Her laugh made your heart soar even if ever so brief.

“I know some ballroom dancing” your future stepsis balanced herself on her toes. “I could teach her you before the ceremony”

“Y-yeah sure” you found yourself blushing. You tried to hide your face.

Barely into high school, you weren’t supposed to be this way around girls but here you were falling hard for her.

You and Wanda spent the better parts of the following afternoons learning the basic steps of ballroom dancing.

“This is just like Beauty and the Beast” Wanda found herself giggling.

“Well as you future stepbrother, if anyone calls you beast I’ll punch them” you joke.

Wanda playfully punches you in the chest for that one.

The ceremony went off without a hitch. Wanda looked so beautiful in her dress, it was simple yet elegant. Your heart only bear faster the second you saw her in it.

Your mom was now married to Wanda’s dad. You were now Wanda’s stepbrother. Part of you felt happy yet sad at the same time. Not sure why.

Then came the dance. Your mom looked so happy dancing with Django. And then came the song. The one that you y bad Wanda had been practicing for the last few afternoons. You felt time stand still as she drifted up to you.

“May I have this dance?” You asked her, earning a nod and giggle from the young Maximoff.

The two of you slow danced together to the melodious sound. Your eyes were locked firmly on hers. They were filled with nothing but adoration and maybe even a little bit of love for you. Everything else just seemed to fade away.

Was this what love felt like? Was this how your mom felt when Django held her? You wanted nothing more than to spend an eternity with this girl in your arms. You only hoped that maybe she felt the same way.

The song came to an end. A little too quickly in your mind. The two of you parted and gave a respectful bow f one another.

“Thank you for the lovely dance,” she whispers and goes off into the crowd.

There was only one thing you recognized that night: you were one hundred percent undoubtedly in love with Wanda Maximoff, your stepsister.

Can’t love be a little less complicated? You thought to yourself as you joined Wanda for some of the wedding cake.

You still tell that story to this day. It makes Wanda laugh every time. You first told it to her when you started dating. And then again at your wedding before you and her did your first dance as a married couple. And now you tell it to your children each year on your anniversary. And Wanda’s love and adoration for you only grows more and more each time you tell it.

But has anyone ever noticed Peter Maximoff's mother, we don't even know her name(correct me if I am wrong), just think about it, we know she is a human(not a mutant) who most probably has no knowledge about mutant abilities, apart form what she got to know form Erik(she knew he was a mutant) who was a adult, a self-consuious, walls up adult, so she didn't learn anything about how deal with a mutant kid who has no control our their power. Now, think you are in her place, you know nothing about mutant abilities, and you can't ask anyone, cause if you do, they will have your head. In that condition, your children are PIETRO DJANGO MAXIMOFF and WANDA DJANGO MAXIMOFF(cause she does exist in the X-Men universe). Peter's powers are super-speed; imagine feeding him something like vegetables, and Wanda is just a synonym for chaos. And it is pretty clear Peter is not afraid to use his powers, probably because his mother told him it is not a curse, she would also ask him to be careful (but it is Peter Bloody Maximoff), looks like she tried her best, I mean, she had the choice of just leaving the twins somewhere and have a life but she didn't,

She deserves more attention, so thinking of writing oneshots about her and the twins.

And her name is Natalya Maximoff.

have you read captain america: the ghost army? if you have, do you have any thoughts on sofia & andrei maximoff?

I have, and I actually enjoyed it a lot more than I expected to! It's a well-paced story that does a good job balancing a whole lot of Marvel character history with some actually really interesting WWII history. I find that a lot of those stories hit the same beats in a way that feels reductive at best, and insensitive at worst, but Ghost Army felt fresh, and it made a point to acknowledge some facets of WWII history that are not often mentioned in this type of comic. Your mileage may vary on how much value there is to a single-panel mention of Japanese-American internment camps, or the vaguest allusion to Romani genocide, but if this story prompted young readers to learn about something they might never have been taught in school, I'll count that as a win.

Sofia and Andrei were surprising delightful characters. For anyone that hasn't read the book, Captain America and Bucky are fighting Germans on the eastern front when they encounter a supernatural phenomenon plaguing a Transian village at the foot of-- where else-- Mount Wundagore. After driving the Nazis out of town with help from the Ghost Army-- which was a real thing-- Steve and Bucky are welcomed by a local blacksmith named Andrei Maximoff and his granddaughter, Sofia, who are stated to be Romani. Presumably, these are relatives of Wanda and Pietro. It's hard to guess how closely related they are, especially with how weird the twins' timeline has become, but this story is not set in 616 continuity anyways. In contrast to the other Maximoffs, Andrei and Sofia are settled, and they live and work in the village. It's hard to say whether this is any more or less likely than Django and Marya's migrant lifestyle, but it feels more grounded and realistic than the pastoral gypsy fantasy that they typically embody.

I often find that Romani characters in Marvel comics, especially those who appear in historical settings, exist primarily to represent victimhood and tragedy. Most of their stories are rooted in the systemic oppression and violence that we experience. This is important to represent, but it is also frustrating to feel like it is the only way we can be seen with empathy or humanity. We're either victims, or fairy-tale creatures. Andrei and Sofia are neither. They do reflect on some of the hardships they experience, and the impending Nazi threat, but they also have lives, careers, and identities outside of their oppression. I was particularly intrigued by Sofia's knowledge of science and ambitions of attending university, considering the barriers to education faced by Romani girls, both then and now.

Additionally, Sofia insists that she and her grandfather do not practice magic, and that this is merely a "myth" about gypsies. This is a refreshing, if somewhat ironic contrast to... just about every other Romani Marvel character, including every single one of Sofia's own relatives, being some kind of witch. Subverting that trope is definitely a worthwhile goal, but this is perhaps not the most effective character to do it with-- although, I much prefer moments like this over a character like Sgt. Szardos.

Overall, these characters felt like fully realized people that didn't rely on any of the stock tropes and expectations that Romani characters are so often defined by, and that, unto itself, is commendable. Throughout the story, Bucky voices some of these assumptions, only to be corrected by Sofia. There's definitely a conversation to be had about characters of color spending a disproportionate amount of time correcting racism, but these moments fit the middle-grade tone of the book and are well-balanced by Sofia's other attributes-- although, given the specific time and place, I do wish Romani slavery had been acknowledged. Ultimately, I felt like these characters were a breath of fresh air. I was really nervous about them when the book was first announced, but the author clearly did his research and had good intentions, and I think it paid off. Andrei and Sofia feel like valuable inclusions in the world of Romani comic book characters, and in Wanda and Pietro's family.

Gonna do some Djangoposting today! He's my Monster Hunter Stories OC (specifically within @ammoknightsofficial's Strangequest canon), and the protagonist of Stories 1. This post is gonna be focused just on his character in Stories 1, too. I haven't finished Stories 2 yet, but once I do, you'll get another post about him ;)

Character Info:

Born in Geo-Fulkright and moving to Hakum Village at around age 8, Django was the daughter of a single blacksmith father. He was a bit too young to fully remember his life in Geo-Fulkright, but has a vague memory of being lost inside the Dovan Mines and encountering a massive, shiny monster... In addition, he keeps in touch back home by sending occasional letters to his uncle Dommel (yes, the random NPC you talk to in the Dovan Mines plot thread). Upon moving to Hakum, he quickly became close friends with Lilia and Cheval, forming an especially strong bond with Cheval in particular.

Django is autistic, being a naturally loud, boisterous and carefree person, yet struggles with judgement from his father because of this. For most of his life, his father has (in a way) intentionally tried to stifle Django's emotions. Telling him that people won't like him if he's too aggressive, too talkative, too... annoying. Django's learned to contain his true feelings around his father and others, but knows he can trust Lilia and Cheval to see his true colors. Despite this, he worries his father is right, seeing as how Lilia and Cheval are pretty much the only friends he has during his childhood, and everyone else seems to be turned away for one reason or another...

His passions lie in smithing like his father, and also cooking, especially regarding grilled meats. Autism be damned, my boy can work a grill. All the armor he wears and weapons he uses he forges himself, and lives by a very no-waste lifestyle. When killing a monster, every piece of the biological puzzle has its purpose. He truly doesn't like waste or needless death.

When the Blighted Nargacuga attacked Hakum Village, not only did it take Vlau's life, but also Django's father's. Django and Cheval, now two orphaned children, cope with the situation in extremely different ways. While Cheval closed himself off from the world and refused to let anybody back in, vowing to kill every last blighted monster, Django became... more reserved and detached. He understood that, truly, it wasn't the Nargacuga's fault: it was just being controlled by something it didn't understand. But the scars still remained, and he had a considerable shift in his personality. He did what his father had instilled in him for years: hid everything away underneath a mask. Amongst the rubble of his home was the helmet that his father always wore, paralleling the mirror pendant from Vlau. In addition to this, he pairs the helmet with a modified pair of smithing gloves. He doesn't want to 'burn' or push anyone away again, so he covers up his hands. His demeanor is much more mellow now, and to most people he probably just seems like really laid back guy. But, for him, the facade is a performance he's forcing himself to keep up. You can't push anybody away if they never get to see who you really are.

Despite it all, Django is still extremely dedicated to his most important goal: finding Cheval. His closest friend, up and vanishing one day, after being so destroyed by the death of his mother... it's the least he can do. If Cheval has nobody left in the world, then Django will be by his side. Which, when they meet each other again, Django's a little... surprised, to say the least. Cheval also underwent a massive shift in his personality: a once kind and caring young boy, to a hateful and revenge-bent hunter. Cheval's views on murder without mercy regarding the blighted monsters contradicts so strongly with Django's own views that they can't help but clash every time they meet. Despite all his efforts to push down his emotions, Cheval is still his best friend, and is therefore privy to the strongest of Django's true feelings: his anger. Angry that Cheval can't just understand, that they can't just work something out together. Come to a compromise, anything- but Cheval never seems to listen. Django's angry, but he's also scared. Scared that this rage inside his best friend will completely overtake him, and he may lose the last thing he has left, too...

Monsties:

His main Monsties, both listed above and including some extras, are:

Ratha, his Rathalos, his longest standing Monstie and close companion. Their kinship is unparalleled, and they'd both lay down their lives for each other.

Fritas, his Uragaan, whom he treats like a little princess. Django was always fascinated by Uragaan since his chance encounter as a child, so it feels like a dream come true to finally have one as a Monstie.

Molcajete, his Barroth, his giant dirty puppy. Loves belly rubs, and loves Django even more! Could you image getting a big lick on the cheek from a Barroth?

Tajín, his Brachydios, and the biggest powerhouse of the team. The two formed almost an immediate bro-like bond with each other. (I knew from the moment I saw the Brachydios's Kinship Skill that I had to keep him on Django's team. Absolutely flawless.)

Champorado, usually shortened to Champ, his Nargacuga that he obtained to act as exposure therapy to get over his fears. It worked surprisingly well, as Champ is extremely kind and cuddly. Never quite grew into his ears. Babbles like a baby sometimes.

Longanisa, his Basarios, who Django swears has the soul of a human man and can perfectly understand human speech. The truth of this is dubious.

Boothill (when he had human hands): Pretty rough and calloused, maybe a few old scars here and there, wears rings a lot, probably bites his fingernails (causing them to be very jagged or even bleed due to his shark teeth)

Argenti: Very smooth and well taken care of, occasionally painted nails, but always trims them, a few moles here and there

Sleeping positions/habits

Boothill: Snores, knocked out like a light every time he sleeps on top of Argenti (wasn't really held that much), only wears red flannel pants to sleep (....whore...)

Argenti: The only one used to it, occasionally drools, usually sleeps on top of Boothill due to his robotic body, always gives Boothill forehead kisses when the outlaw does sleep on top of him. Night gown, bunny slippers, sleeping mask, you get the gist.

Both pretty light sleepers, but Argenti is definitely a bit heavier than Boothill

Both/Customs: They normally hold hands and face each other's foreheads when sleeping

Mornings:

Boothill usually wakes up before Argenti (which results in Argenti to stir and wake up himself), but Boothill always gives him a kiss to the back of his head and whispers a "Rest easy, hun'" or "Get some sleep, darlin'"

Random "opposite" headcanons

Boothill: Likes Venus fly traps. Collects bottles caps, lighters, hour glasses, and marbles

Argenti: Likes white roses with red tint. Collects small potion like bottles, candles, pocket watches, and jewelry

Drink dates:

Boothill takes Argenti out to bars, while Argenti takes Boothill out for tea parties. It's unusual to see an outlaw like Boothill sip from a tea cup, and weird to see a knight like Argenti to sit at a large stool sipping some wine. But it's a wholesome moment between the two and pretty healthy by introducing each other to stuff that they like that the other might not be too used to. (They make me ill)

Movie nights

Boothill's main movies: Django unchained, The harder they fall, Silence of the lambs, and The man who knew too much (Action, Thriller, Western revenge, and occasional Sci-fi)

Argenti's main movies: Pride & Prejudice, Her, Melancholia, and Elizabeth (Drama, Fantasy, Crime, and occasional Period romance)

Together, they create Brokeback Mountain (they sob everytime they watch it)

Dancing

Boothill: Tango, Quickstep, and Waltz. Literally flustered the entire time

Argenti: Ballroom dance, Foxtrot, and Waltz. Helped Boothill learn how to waltz

Cooking

Boothill: 4/10. Considering he's mostly robotic and usually gets drunk, he doesn't have that much knowledge when it comes to cooking. The worst is it being extremely burnt, and the best is when it's edible and helps you live long enough

Argenti: 6/10. Just a smidge better than Boothill, still a bit clueless when it comes to cooking. Rather a baker than a cooker

Carrying each other

Boothill: 8/10. Literally so easy. The only -2 points are that he can still slightly feel the weight (more noticeable when Argenti is wearing armor) and if Argenti has collapsed or is injured in his arms

Argenti: 7/10. A bit harder to carry cause of the large amount of metal (he's a strong boy, so dw), maybe a bit shaky the first few times Argenti picked him up

Random extra hcs and I don't know where to put </3

Boothill has flirted with Argenti many, many times when drunk, not even realizing that's his partner. Argenti always teases the cowboy about it the next day.

Boothill: .... why do ya' have.. mushrooms?

Argenti: I just think they're neat!

Made my first proper React.js project

After reminiscing over my old blog's name (froggiecoding) I decided to get up and start learning some React and made a to-do app! Also learnt how to use Netlify for the first time - wow, I know~!

I had fun, it's just like how Django was like but I think a bit simpler to understand! This is the bare basics but it's good I started from somewhere!

Was thinking of adding more to the site but the only thing I want to do is add saving the items to local storage! Then I'm done and onto the next project!

Also double happy I started and finished the project in one sitting, only spent around 2.5 hours on it, just cause it's pretty basic! 😉🐸✨👍🏾

So I'm reading What If Wanda Maximoff and Peter Parker were siblings and I find myself disappointed- this book is probably just not for me. Shame I really wanted to like it and I recognise the landmark significance of having a writer of Roma decent finally write Wanda. It's a wonderful thing and I hope it opens more doors for the writer and for Roma and other minority creators to write minority characters. However, reading this I have mixed feelings. I've got some thoughts under the cut (spoilers).

I'll give this book a 4/10 but it's treatment of Pietro and other non American characters has left a bitter taste in my mouth. I'm a massive Pietro fan and a fan of both twins so I may be biased. I hope others can get more out of this book than me. It definitely has it's good points that I can see winning it some fans.

Let's just say this is a YA book that reads very YA. I can definitely see the appeal for fans, especially of Spiderman. Wanda is the main character though little of her lore gets used and her relationships are destroyed. The author does make a genuine and really nice effort to respect and call focus to Wanda's heritage and the disconnect of being an American adoptee.and there are some nice mentions of Django but it all gets undercut by the author harping on about how wonderful Aunt May is for introducing Wanda to him.

I do encourage people to pick this book up and form their own opinions. If you are a fan of the MCU and Spiderman comics you'll probably walk away happy and have mixed feelings as a comic Wanda fan (Quicksilver fans and fans of the twins relationship just save yourself the trouble and not read this book trust me!). Maybe wait till it's cheaper though as it's a lot of money to spend on something you might not like - I'm planning on returning or donating my copy because I walked away feeling cheated.

The book however is very American and Wanda is emphasised to be American. The American characters are largely good and the foreigners with foreign accents largely bad. Other Romani characters are either cameos or evil. If your a fan of Pietro and the twins relationship just don't pick this up.

Basically as long as Wanda has a brother with a similar name to Pietro she'll be fine, her bond with her twin can just be superimposed onto other characters. It negates the importance of one of the most important sibling relationships in comics and reads like Magneto's letter to the twins in Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver (except where the reader believes that Orlando meant for Magneto to be unironically right). It feels a little dirty and like it's there to serve Peter Parker and give him a win rather than Wanda. Anything meaningful that could have been said about the twins relationship is instead given to Peter.

Making Pietro a one dimensional evil twin was a very boaring and very overdone take. Writers love to make Pietro evil despite the characters history and it never has been done well (as has the evil twin trope in general) and has always been immediately walked back in the comics for a reason.

And while I definitely don't think the author intended it this way, having Wanda have zero interest (Pietro is treated terribly by his sister, the other characters and the narrative from the second he appears or is mentioned) and reject her "evil foreign" family in favour of her "wonderful white American" family has some unfortunate implications.

Wanda also rarely accomplishes anything for herself. The 616 Wanda learns magic on her own, immigrates to America with her brother, builds her own community and reclaims a racist name thrown at her. She works hard and everything she accomplished was her own. In this book everything she accomplishes is because of Peter, Ben and May - they find her a Romani community, she doesn't seem it out on her own, they take her to strange who is souly responsible for teaching her magic and tells her everything she needs to do. Wanda is super passive in this book.

No hate to the writer though. I do think their talented and they have acknowledged they know people will be unhappy with some of the takes in the book. I respect what they've created even if I don't personally like it.

sorry im rewatching tgtbatt special again cus we have jack to do today in like all of my classes ouuouo i love thinking about this show. its so based.,..

like literally the more you watch and learn about this show the more its apparent like EVERYTHING is a duality in this show, yet somehow more. what I mean like, everything is depicted as a binary, that you can only be one or the other (good and evil most obviously, choosing his family or joining w django and ruling the world in this episode, even being "macho" or not). yet by mannys indecision /refusal to lean towards one or the other he embodies both of them while rejecting the limits emposed on those roles by themselves, or in layman's terms a "secret 3rd thing".

this is also why (,i mean ik this episode was one of those specials where u vote on the ending, just in a perfect world for me) i feel like this should've ended with manny choosing himself and his autonomy over what others expect him to do. the inherently neutral option. thats what I think is the main moral here. like rodolfo and grandpapi are in rhe WRONG here, they even explicitly state it that they both kind of ignore what mannys going through and just both expecting him to follow through with both of their contradicting ideals and lifestyles at once, that is a special kind of torture. i feel like in this episode allowing manny to choose one side or the other for the ending just allows that side off the hook while condemning the other side. when BOTH sides deserve critisism and sympathy. and choosing a neutral option allows for that message to be expressed. (though i feel like nick woulsnt have liked that i do recognise, again this is in my ideal world).

because the true message of the show isnt that manny needs to choose between these 2 socially acceptable worlds to be a part of. its that manny needs to find out who he is for himself, and sometimes that means allowing yourself to pick neither and take the neutral route. its okay to not be so inclined to choose between two evils (one side may be called "good" but dont give me that, you see how the heros act, even towards each other. and especially with hidden dragon crouching tigre and the golden eagle twins, even the heros perform their own acts of evil, like how the villains perform their own acts of good [like cactus kid & old money episodes]). theres an incredible amount of nuance in this show that i feel like is lost on so many people.

its genuinely devestateing to me that manny doesnt even realize neutrality is actually an option. its just that hes grown up with the idea drilled into him that there are ONLY those options and anything else isnt right or socially acceptable. this show is an allegory for so so so many things its actually insane im going crazy sauce

Do you think Marvel should ever try to do anything with the twins, deceased cousins/adopted siblings Ana and Mateo, Weren't they also described to having some kind of powers, maybe being Mutants themselves

I assume that you're talking about this scene from Avengers #182--

Django is recounting a memory of Wanda and Pietro's childhood, however, he is mentally unwell during this scene, and repeatedly confuses the twins with Ana and Mateo, seemingly conflating both sets of twins in his mind. It's not stated outright, but the implication is that Ana and Mateo died very young, probably as infants, and theres's no mention of them ever having powers or other supernatural qualities.

It's highly unlikely, although not impossible, that Ana and Mateo were mutants. There are no other known mutants in the (biological) Maximoff family-- Wanda and Pietro were always thought to have inherited the x-gene from Magneto. In the present day, Wanda and Pietro are not considered mutants at all, so I feel like it would be weird and kinda pointless to retroactively make their dead cousins mutants instead, especially since they died so young. The Maximoffs are part of a magical lineage-- Django and his sister Natalya both had mystical powers. Wanda, and possibly Pietro, inherited magical gifts from Natalya, so it's quite possible that Django might have passed them on to his kids, too.

Anyways, no, I don't expect these characters to ever come back as anything other than a very sad part of Wanda and Pietro's backstory. I would definitely like to learn more about the Maximoff family, especially now that we know Marya's alive, and I imagine that Ana and Mateo would come up in the process. It might be nice to know how they died, but I think it's important for some of these characters to remain.... mundane, as it were. Stories like those of the Maximoffs and the von Dooms represent real parts of Romani history and convey a semi-realistic portrait of the systematic oppression and violence that marginalized Roma still experience in Europe today. If all of these characters become fantastical beings whose lives, and deaths, are governed by magic and superpowers, we lose some of that crucial representation. I feel similarly about Magda.
